1.About Us
SLS Solicitors Limited is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13043393, with its registered office at Chambers Business Centre, Chapel Road, Hollinwood, Manchester, Greater Manchester, OL8 4QQ. We trade as Housing Disrepair Solicitors and help tenants whose landlords have failed to carry out the repairs they're responsible for.
Whenever these terms refer to "we", "us" or "our", they mean SLS Solicitors Limited, trading as Housing Disrepair Solicitors. "You" means anyone who uses the website, and "the website" means london-housingdisrepairsolicitors.org, including all of its pages.
You can reach us by calling 0333 050 5381 or by emailing info@london-housingdisrepairsolicitors.org.
These are also the details to use if you notice a mistake on the website, come across a link that doesn't work, or see someone misusing the site.
2.Regulatory Information
SLS Solicitors Limited is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) under SRA No. 813100. You can check our details by searching for our name or SRA number on the SRA’s register.
As an authorised firm, we must follow the SRA Standards and Regulations, the professional rules that apply to all solicitors and law firms in England and Wales.
We maintain qualifying professional indemnity insurance, as the SRA requires, and we’re happy to share the details on request.
3.What These Terms Cover
These terms apply only to your use of the website, which includes reading our pages, using our enquiry forms and contacting us through the details shown on the site. They don't cover the legal work we carry out for our clients.
If we agree to take on your case, that work will be governed by the client care letter and terms of business we send you at the start, along with any funding agreement that applies. Section 5 explains how those documents work alongside these terms.
4.Our Website Is Not Legal Advice
The information on our website explains housing disrepair, tenants' rights and the claims process in general terms, and while it can help you understand your position, it isn't legal advice about your own situation.
Every housing disrepair case is different, because the outcome can depend on the type of tenancy you have, who your landlord is, when you reported the problem and how it has affected your household. For that reason, you should speak to a qualified legal adviser before relying on anything you read here.
You should also bear in mind that the law in England and the law in Wales differ in some areas. Our information about Awaab's Law, for example, applies to England only, and wherever other rules differ between the two countries, we aim to make this clear.
Reading our website or sending us an enquiry doesn’t ordinarily make you our client. A solicitor–client relationship usually begins once we’ve agreed to take on your case and confirmed this in our client care letter and terms of business, although in some circumstances it can arise earlier through the way we deal with each other. Until we’ve confirmed that we’re acting for you, please don’t assume we are, and keep track of any deadlines that apply to your situation.
5.If We Take On Your Case
Once we agree to act for you, we'll send you a client care letter and our terms of business, which together explain how we'll handle your case, who will be working on it and how we'll keep you updated.
Where your case is funded on a no win, no fee basis, you'll also receive a conditional fee agreement, which sets out how the funding works and any deductions or other amounts that may apply.
These documents govern the legal work we carry out for you. If anything in them differs from what's written on this page or elsewhere on the website, the client care documents will take priority.
6.Using the Website
You're welcome to read, print and download our pages for your own personal use, and you're free to share links to them with anyone you think they might help.
However, you may not copy our content in order to republish it, sell it or use it for any other commercial purpose unless we've given you written permission to do so.
We also ask that everyone uses the site fairly and responsibly, which means you must not:
- use the website for anything unlawful or fraudulent
- try to gain unauthorised access to the website, its server or any system connected to it
- interfere with how the website works, or upload viruses or other harmful code
- send us information through our forms that you know is false or misleading, or give us someone else's details without their authority
Whenever you contact us, please make sure that the information you give us is accurate to the best of your knowledge, as this helps us assess your situation properly.
7.Keeping the Website Accurate
We do our best to keep the website accurate and up to date, but housing law and the guidance around it change from time to time, and a page may not reflect the latest position on the day you read it.
While we review our content regularly, we can't promise that every page will always be complete, correct and current.
We may also change, pause or remove parts of the website, or the whole site, at any time. There may be occasions when the website is unavailable or not working as it should, and although we try to keep these to a minimum, we can't guarantee that it will always be available.
8.Copyright and Intellectual Property
Everything on the website belongs to SLS Solicitors Limited or to those who have licensed it to us. This includes the written content, the page design, the graphics and logos, and the Housing Disrepair Solicitors name and branding, all of which are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Any rights that these terms don't expressly give you remain with us.
If you'd like to use any of our content in a way that these terms don't allow, such as quoting a large part of a page in a publication, please contact us first and ask for permission.
9.Links to Other Websites
Some of our pages link to websites run by other organisations, such as government bodies and regulators, because we think the information on them may be useful to you.
We don't control those websites, though, so we can't take responsibility for their content, accuracy or availability, or for any loss that may arise from using them.
Including a link on our website doesn't mean that we endorse the website or the organisation behind it. Once you leave our site, the other website's own terms and privacy policy will apply, so we'd recommend reading those before you share any information with it.
10.Our Liability
Our website provides general information rather than legal advice about your own situation. As far as the law allows, we don’t accept responsibility for loss that results from relying on it without taking advice on your own circumstances.
As far as the law allows, we’re also not responsible for loss caused by the website being unavailable, slow or interrupted, for errors or gaps in our content, for viruses or other harmful material passed on through the site, or for the content of websites we link to.
None of this limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that can’t lawfully be excluded or limited. It also doesn’t affect any duty of care we owe you. Once we’re acting for you, our responsibilities are set out in our client care documents. If you’re a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.
11.Emails From Us
Our emails, along with any attachments, are intended only for the person they're addressed to, and they may be confidential or protected by legal professional privilege. If one of our emails reaches you by mistake, please let us know and then delete it.
Because email is never completely secure, messages can sometimes be intercepted or altered after they've been sent, so it's sensible to check any attachment before opening it. If you're ever unsure whether an email has genuinely come from us, please call us on 0333 050 5381 before acting on anything it asks you to do.
12.Insurance Distribution
Some no win, no fee cases involve an insurance policy that protects the client against certain legal costs if the case is unsuccessful, and we may help clients arrange this kind of cover.
We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are, however, included on the register the FCA maintains, which allows us to carry on insurance distribution activity in the UK. In broad terms, that means advising on, arranging and administering insurance policies. This part of our work, including the arrangements for complaints and redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. You can check the register on the Financial Conduct Authority’s website.
This is separate from our professional indemnity insurance, which covers the firm itself and is described in section 2.
13.Complaints
Telling us first
If you’re unhappy with any part of our service, please tell us and we’ll look into it properly. Our complaints procedure explains how we handle complaints and how long each stage takes.
Going to the Legal Ombudsman
If we haven’t resolved your complaint within eight weeks, or you’re unhappy with our final response, you may be able to take it to the Legal Ombudsman. It is an independent body that looks into complaints about legal services, and it doesn’t charge consumers.
You’ll normally need to contact the Legal Ombudsman within six months of our final response. You’ll also need to do so within one year of the problem happening, or of when you should reasonably have realised there was cause for complaint.

Reporting a concern to the SRA
The Legal Ombudsman deals with the quality of the service you’ve received. If your concern is about a solicitor’s or the firm’s conduct, such as dishonesty, misuse of client money or a breach of the SRA’s rules, you can report it to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
14.Privacy and Cookies
If you make an enquiry or contact us, we’ll use your personal information to deal with it and to work out whether we can help. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it and what rights you have.
Our website uses cookies. Analytics cookies are only set if you agree to them through the banner shown on your first visit, and you can change your choice at any time.
15.Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time, normally as a result of any changes in the law or regulatory requirements, or a change in the way we operate the website. Each time we revise these terms, we will revise the date shown above to let you know when these terms were most recently amended.
These terms in force during your visit to the website will apply to you, hence it makes sense for you to check this page from time to time.
16.If Part of These Terms Is Invalid
If a court or other competent authority decides that any part of these terms is illegal, invalid or unenforceable, that part will be removed from the terms. The remaining parts will continue to apply in full, as though the invalid part had never been included.
17.Which Law Applies
These terms, and any dispute or claim connected with them or with your use of the website, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any such dispute. None of this affects any rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded or taken away.
